The Tree Crowns
Difference
The Arts and Craft furniture offered by Tree
Crowns is of the highest quality in every detail. The fore fathers of the Arts
and Craft movement designed their furniture around joinery and the best woods
for the application. These are the reasons that this style of furniture has
remained popular through the years. Tree Crowns continues that tradition by
offering
our customer the best value possible.
Pride is taken in each piece produced, to maintain the
authenticity of the original designs. These Craftsmen,. built and brought us
beautiful well-crafted functional furniture with a straight forward design. We
at Tree Crowns hand select the finest quarter-sawn oak and cherry woods
available, and use
the best processes, joinery and finishes possible.
Below we describe the Tree
Crowns difference.
|
Quarter Sawn Oak
Many manufactures use what is
commonly referred to as rip and flip or face glued. This process uses
plain sliced oak and then rotate it before gluing it, to look like quarter
sawn. Tree Crowns
uses only the finest truly quarter sawn oak available from the largest
quarter sawn oak supplier in the North America. |

|
Solid Cedar Drawers
Aromatic Cedar is used on all drawers. It is
accepted that aromatic cedar is the material of choice for protecting
your clothes from moths and other insects. In addition all drawers are dust proofed for
added protection. |
|
Dovetailed Drawer
All drawers are assembled
using English dovetail joinery for the strongest construction. The
drawers are then reinforced with 6 glue block and a center hard Maple
dovetail drawer guide on the bottom. |
|
 |
High Frequency Catalyzed
Glue We feature
all solid wood construction with the exception of the insert panel on
the sides which are quarter sawn oak plywood. Where most manufactures
use a standard white wood glue and a cold clamping system to edge glue
solid panels, we use catalyzed glue (epoxy) and state of the art high
frequency clamping to achieve the best and strongest glue joint possible.
|
|
Mortised and Tenon Joinery
All spindles are inserted into a mortised hole
as shown. This is the best and strongest construction possible and prevents
the spindles from coming loose and turning, as well as keeping them
straight and evenly spaced. |
 |
 |
Table Slides
On all tables up to and
including 4 leaves, we use wood equalized slides. After years of use
these slides
have been proven to be trouble free. On our larger
tables with 6 leaves we use a steel cabled equalized slide for additional
strength required on the tables that open to 12 feet. |
|
Catalyzed Lacquer Finishes
To finish off our furniture
we use a 7 step catalyzed lacquer finish. Again, unlike other
manufactures that use either cellulose or water based lacquer products
that scuff, stain, yellow or are susceptible to the menacing white water
rings. Our Catalyzed Lacquers are the toughest and most durable finish
available in the furniture industry. |
